Gripper for crankcases
Challenge
After the engine blocks were produced, they needed to be ejected from a gantry and lead to a test bench for visual inspection. The operator performed this visual inspection at the bench. To do this, the operator needed to move the workpiece into the correct ergonomic position to perform the inspection.
Solution
The workpiece was clamped pneumatically downline of an access block. Subsequently, the operator was able to release the clamp of the manual swivel axis using a footswitch and bring the workpiece into various positions for inspection. In this process, the test station was able to hold both a 4-cylinder and a 6-cylinder block.
